How do I create a channel in Teams?
Go to the “Teams” tab on the left side of the app. On the right upper corner you’ll see a button that says “Join or create a team”. Press it and it will give you the option of creating your own channel as well as show you all the teams of Capilano you can access. You can make this channel private (only members can ask/let others join) or public (anyone from Capilano can find your channel and join).
How do I send a private message?
Go to the “Chat” tab on the left side of the app. Type the name of the person you wish to message and click on it to open the conversation.
You can also hover your mouse over the name of a person in a channel to see their email or chat icon to open a chat with them.
What is the difference between channels and private chats?
Private chats are only seen by the persons involved (one-on-one conversations most of the time, though you can have a chat with multiple persons), while channels usually contain many others and every member can see what other members post.
